Link Between Primary Pulmonary Hypertension and Dexatrim
When Dexatrim was first produced, its active ingredient was a chemical called phenylpropanalomine (PPA). In the 1990s, Dexatrim replaced PPA with Ephedra, which can cause primary pulmonary hypertension.
Because of serious health risks, Ephedra was banned by the FDA in 2004.
