The Guardian Reports Blizzard Greenberg’s Dollar Tree Lawsuit in National Investigation
The Guardian published an in-depth investigation examining reported sexual assaults at Dollar Tree stores nationwide, featuring lawsuits filed by Blizzard Greenberg against the retail chain.
The article highlights the firm’s representation of a Houston-area woman identified as MR, who says she was sexually assaulted at a Dollar Tree, as well as similar cases the firm is handling in Colorado Springs, San Diego and Miami. It also examines the firm’s research into an online subculture where perpetrators shared videos of assaults, encouraged one another and celebrated the abuse of unsuspecting women.
In the article, MR explains why she decided to pursue the lawsuit against Dollar Tree.
“You [have] to take accountability of what is happening in your stores. You’re causing pain to people… you guys need to stop it.”
“We couldn’t believe how big the scale was,” Anna Greenberg told the Guardian about the online community and other similar assaults her firm discovered.
The lawsuits accuse Dollar Tree of failing to provide reasonable security measures, respond appropriately to prior incidents and take steps to better protect customers. The litigation is ongoing.
